Birth Order and our Personality

Impact of Birth Order on our Personality

When we talk about the impact of our childhood on our personality it could be either positive or negative. The effects of birth order could also have a huge impact on our way of thinking and actions. People who are born in different orders, as well as different genders, are affected differently by their childhood experiences. There is no doubt that life experiences can either improve or impede the way we act and think. For example, women who fall into the second half of birth order are more likely to engage in violent behavior, while those who are born in the first and third order may exhibit higher levels of pro-social inclinations. These two gender groupings influence individual differences in many ways, including how they view themselves and others. Some common examples of this are their feelings of self-pride and their tendency to want to control situations. Despite having little knowledge of these factors, people from a certain social class have been known to respond negatively to certain gender roles.

Our socialization is extremely important to our development and success. As such, if children’s learning environments are not appropriate, then children will do what they do best. It is often noted when parents teach kids values they want them to adopt. In my opinion, this leads to aggression in some situations. If you were born female then you may be more inclined to enjoy violence and fight over anything. Children from a male parents will be more inclined to show love, empathy, and respect towards other people. Even though it is a complex phenomenon for different individuals, there is enough evidence that gender influences our personality. This could go up to our behaviors and our thinking. Research has shown that men tend to display stronger positive emotions while women tend to show a greater range of negative feelings. Therefore, the environment you grow up in could affect your development both negatively and positively. Women tend to grow up with more rules and regulations than men. They are required to be submissive, loyal, hard-working, and obedient to authority figures. Parents will provide them with the correct examples to learn from which will in turn shape their future choices for adulthood. Men, conversely, will expect their sons to be rough, aggressive, independent, strong, and confident. Children and young adults tend to adapt to the social conditions they are exposed to growing up. Children will be influenced by gender roles and stereotypes. It is essential to understand children well so that they can understand and appreciate others’ emotions. When children experience bullying it makes them feel ashamed and afraid. Consequently, they try to protect themselves from any sort of negativity. An example of this was displayed by girls who had been bullied at school. They would use physical activities that would relieve their anxiety. However, girls often found that playing sports was not enough to alleviate their emotional worries. Girls who were already hyperactive and very active at school struggled to cope with the stress of low self-esteem. Many of them even suffered from depression. In conclusion, gender role expectations and stereotyping have led to negative consequences for children as well as adolescents.

In today’s society, gender roles are still highly influential and continue to be a topic of conversation. Unfortunately, studies suggest very little is known about it. Furthermore, some believe they have a profound effect on our behavior when in a certain gender role. Studies have shown that some traits may become more associated with a person’s gender rather than their biological sex.

The results of the study will be published in the journal Social Psychological and Psychiatric Science. Their findings are based primarily on the fact that women respond better with emotional expressions when exposed to a male role model. However, it should be noted that men, too, showed significantly increased physiological responses when compared to women. Overall, the research findings suggest that gender identity plays an enormous role in social behavior. While it may be difficult for us to eliminate these influences, we are certainly capable of making conscious changes in our daily lives. We should have awareness of our gender roles and social expectation to create the environment we want to live in. Allowing ourselves the ability to make choices as opposed to just following the status quo does make it much easier to thrive and flourish.
