Time Management
This post is not meant to be a “How-to” type of guide on how to manage your time and what you need to know to do it effectively. It is meant to help people get more control over their time and achieve more productivity. If you are struggling with getting the most out of your time, try these strategies.
How To Start Making Progress With Your Time Management Strategy.
As we progress through life, the number of things and people that need our attention keeps increasing as does the urgency of completing them. So, we start planning a list of all the things that we need to accomplish or things to do on top of the things that we already have accomplished or things that we want to complete. The next thing we can always start doing is making time for each activity that interests us (for example reading, watching an episode of a TV show, gardening, etc.) in the upcoming days. Now, make sure you have a list of all the things that you just need to accomplish and make that effort towards accomplishing those things.
Next thing, when we are about to accomplish a task, usually, we take a break, think of something else and do another task right after. Thereby, our mind has time to focus on other tasks so we keep going until we finish the job. At the end of the day, we only manage to get done one thing and the next day we still need to do something else again. We do this all day long but because we can’t be bothered we stop for 10 minutes, then we go to work again. In reality, we don’t even realize the number of things we have done till the next day we start doing the tasks and in the same way, we start failing miserably. So, we start planning how many things we need to accomplish and why should we even bother to do them that much, the next time will be easier. And, as soon as it becomes hard to concentrate again, we give up and return from doing things.
After giving up, we get back to doing the same tasks over again and again. But it doesn’t matter, if we can’t figure out how to fix it later, then how can we figure out how to spend our time well right now. Well, it is very difficult to do a lot at once and sometimes we fail miserably. Maybe, when we take a break, we can find out the solution. You might look for something to read and decide to do a little something instead of wasting your energy on doing nothing. Or maybe you want to watch some YouTube video of someone speaking. This also might take a day or two. All of this is ok because you are focusing on things that you want to do for the future and it helps to get more focused and better at managing time. So, when you feel that there is no more time left to accomplish things, you can’t resist yourself anymore and you become productive. How Much Time Should You allot For Projects, When You Have A Heap Of Things To Do?
When you think of projects, you tend to forget that you are also planning a pile of things to accomplish and you are almost overwhelmed with all of the stuff to do during such a project. That means, before you begin any such project, you should be analyzing every single aspect of the project, thinking of possible problems of it and you can’t ignore any fact that comes into your mind about why things are so complicated and complicated.
So, it makes sense to consider this before you start anything. Like a new project, you probably have more than one goal in your mind. Maybe, your main goal is to grow your career. But, you also have your goals in it like, to succeed and work hard, so you start working on things related to that goal. Before starting this project and the reason for choosing it, do thorough research on it and see whether or not it is worth pursuing. Then, make a clear plan and set some reasonable deadlines
When You Don’t Achieve Anything, Is It Yourself The Problem Of The Projects Not Being Done?
This is another question that you might ask yourself at times. Yes! Often you think of the projects being in your hands and you are sure that they aren’t going to be finished but deep inside, you know that you are having doubts. For instance, I think that my project isn’t really important and I am not ready for it. However, now I have changed my approach to project management and I am quite certain that I can achieve these projects in the future. So, I take it seriously. I started making the decisions myself.
So, the idea is to try and put off any plans for any kind of project. As long as you keep doing what you are capable of doing and not the maximum, you will find a solution.
Well, this lesson can be applied to any project to make it complete as soon as possible and to improve it in small phases, while keeping in mind that it will give you the results sooner than later. So, think carefully before you start any kind of project and always keep aside some time for your improvement. Get more knowledge, get more experienced, and get better at communicating with others and it doesn’t hurt to have a little bit of extra effort to keep everything on track, no matter how big or small it is.
