The Power of Now

 Live in the moment:

“Past was like a dream from the past and future is only a possibility of the near” ~Wang-Chi Ong

To bring awareness to self as well as to others. We may have trouble believing it but once we do we know we can stand strong and be who we aspire to be.

“A person’s success is determined by his ability to work himself into the right mindset, willing to put in his extra effort, and doing everything he knows will help him reach his goal” -Andrew Yang

When people see us struggling or not even working hard. It’ll make them question if they are helping themselves or if what we are doing is truly worth it. And sometimes you can feel the same way when you aren’t making money.

Instead of thinking about the big picture, maybe it can be more beneficial just to focus on the little things. For example, having a new hobby and pursuing it may make a difference in how we deal with stress and the stresses of everyday life. Or perhaps just going for a walk or practicing some new dance moves can lead you to feel better the next day. Taking small steps each day is how you can build momentum towards where you want to go. Instead of getting frustrated and feeling overwhelmed with what has been given so you might consider learning one of these tools before your next opportunity comes along. Don’t let fear get in the way, simply learn from your mistakes. If what you have to offer is more than you were expecting then take advantage of it. You might want to give up your job to start your own company and pursue your dreams so that you can finally achieve your goals, no matter how daunting they seem. All in the pursuit of creating what you want.

“Don’t do everything by halves” ~Andrew Yang

So much of life is built around doing nothing and setting limits. There is no limit to what you can accomplish, what you can achieve. A lot is going to happen and that’s something to look forward to. Focus on what you can control. Try to work to achieve as much as possible and never stop trying. Yes, it can be very easy to get caught up in all the opportunities and experiences you can have. But all too often I would find myself staring at the most beautiful sky just to hold my ground and avoid losing sight of the real world. Takeaways from the previous post: “The Future isn’t necessarily what we want. Rather it’s a way to access an unchangeable experience and to realize what we can control. It’s an exciting place filled with possibilities and the potential for innovation, creativity, and evolution. At the end of the day, our destiny is within our control.”

I wanted to share a few tips that I used when my mind wandered off track and I couldn’t concentrate. I don’t want to focus on things the way I used to. I want to focus on who I am now, on what I am capable of doing. I want to be able to wake up again. My head needs to start thinking again. I have to remind myself what I can do and also acknowledge the possibility that I can fail. Each day is an opportunity to either succeed or fail. Do you see the value in taking a pause and looking back on yourself before moving on? Even a simple daily activity can take you to another level. I want to focus on what is here to be rather than the possibility of a “new beginning”. Just look ahead and see what the next day has in store. You don’t want to spend your days worrying about the future because that’s not what we can control. That’s not what you can control. Live in the now and remember why you started. Make each day count for something more important than the next shiny object you thought was going to change your life. Focus on what you want rather than the possibilities of what might come. How is there light at the end of the tunnel? Will you be happy or sad? Where are you heading? Are you living the life you want or the life you don’t want to live? Have courage in yourself. Speak the truth that matters and doesn’t take yourself too seriously. Be authentic and don’t fall for words. Stop putting up barriers for anyone to keep you from enjoying the rest of your day. The power of the unknown outweighs everything else. Learn to surrender all your ego. No, you can’t win every battle of the war and I’m still not going to lose by playing my favorite sport or spending months doing yoga. So quit wasting time trying to be someone you are not. Life is just starting and your path doesn’t end there. Start building the things that you want in life and let go of what you don’t. Find something simple but meaningful to your purpose for the day. Maybe just walking outside in nature or watching the sunrise so far. Just notice what it feels like and start doing it, start paying attention to the things you enjoy, the little things. Remember what matters will eventually change. Let go of the things that don’t inspire you and move forward.

Take note of your time too. Use it wisely. Not everyone has the freedom to choose their own time, but the difference between living life in the here and now and living it shortly is subtle. I believe the biggest challenge shortly is going back and forth so quickly. So one reason I take time to appreciate my blessings is the fact that in the long run, you can’t predict anything at all. This means that when you experience a blessing, look beyond what happened and the results of what you could have achieved. Give thanks for what you were and not what you have. Enjoy the present. Notice the details you enjoy. Most importantly, learn to be content with what you have now. Keep pushing forward.
