Psychological correlates of Schizophrenia

Image
A recent study by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley has found that there are significant correlations between schizophrenia and certain psychosocial variables. The results will provide scientists with new insight into how schizophrenia is associated with patients’ environmental factors as well as other related diagnoses such as bipolar. Other factors include social support, occupational functioning, and substance abuse, all of which can contribute to schizophrenic symptoms. These discoveries may also assist in finding treatment options or aid in prognoses for patients. Researchers analyzed data from a retrospective cohort that focused on self-reported symptoms of schizophrenia in patients over five years. This data was based solely on direct interviews for self-reported symptoms, although some participants also providedinformation about hospital data, lab tests, and more recent medical history. All available patient information came from a long list of ...

Birth Order and our Personality

Image
Impact of Birth Order on our Personality When we talk about the impact of our childhood on our personality it could be either positive or negative. The effects of birth order could also have a huge impact on our way of thinking and actions. People who are born in different orders, as well as different genders, are affected differently by their childhood experiences. There is no doubt that life experiences can either improve or impede the way we act and think. For example, women who fall into the second half of birth order are more likely to engage in violent behavior, while those who are born in the first and third order may exhibit higher levels of pro-social inclinations. These two gender groupings influence individual differences in many ways, including how they view themselves and others. Some common examples of this are their feelings of self-pride and their tendency to want to control situations. Despite having little knowledge of these factors, people from a ce...

Lack of Self Discipline and Personal Growth

Image
Consequences of lack of Self-Discipline in Personal Growth The lack of self-discipline in growth can be traced to a wrong upbringing, from an overprotective parent and others who are not mature enough to take responsibility for their actions or responsibilities. This is because children who have been left to their own devices experience less difficulty following through on tasks as they become more confident and independent thinkers. They also learn that it’s okay to do things their way and not follow any rules. As adults, these people who can control themselves can go out and achieve those goals and dreams which they could never achieve without these little kids guiding them along the way. So, having no self-discipline is harmful to your personal development, it creates insecurity and fear of failure when you don’t know how to get to your goal or when something goes wrong. It makes you feel unimportant and doesn’t give your confidence back. But when ...

The Power of Now

Live in the moment : “Past was like a dream from the past and future is only a possibility of the near” ~Wang-Chi Ong To bring awareness to self as well as to others. We may have trouble believing it but once we do we know we can stand strong and be who we aspire to be. “A person’s success is determined by his ability to work himself into the right mindset, willing to put in his extra effort, and doing everything he knows will help him reach his goal” -Andrew Yang When people see us struggling or not even working hard. It’ll make them question if they are helping themselves or if what we are doing is truly worth it. And sometimes you can feel the same way when you aren’t making money. Instead of thinking about the big picture, maybe it can be more beneficial just to focus on the little things. For example, having a new hobby and pursuing it may make a difference in how we deal with stress and the stresses of everyday life. Or perhaps just going for a wa...

Thinking leads to Behavior

Image
Change your Thinking, Change your Behavior: There’s a lot of confusion in our culture around how to think better and change our behaviors. How can we make the best choices? What are the steps to success? And of course, what is it like to be in a certain situation? For example, people ask each other “how does one get into that job?” src='//forcefulpacehauled.com/33/a7/41/33a741a3e1d6f665eaae446545a88682.js'> Well, you start by asking yourself why you want the job; this is the beginning of your motivation process. Then you find out what you are good at doing and how happy you are about what you do in your role and the job. A common way is to look at the person who is hiring or working for someone else. In some cases, they just say “why are you looking for such and such a job, and have you done any training or anything?” This is how many times we are asked questions about our skills, knowledge, and experience. And the answer is often along these li...
